Staying Hydrated – Powerful reasons to drink more water

Did you know that your body is about 60-70% water!

Your body needs approximately eight glasses (2 litres) of water each day to keep hydrated and to function effectively.  It is essential to your health and wellbeing.

Here are a few reasons why:-

Improves your energy levels:  Being dehydrated can sap you of your energy and make you tired. If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated, which can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness and more.

Helps with weight loss:  Water has no calories, no fat and no sugar!  It is therefore a great tool for weight loss, as it can replace high-calories drinks like soda, juice and alcohol. Often we think we are hungry when we are actually thirsty, so have a glass of water instead of heading for the pantry.

Healthy Skin:  Drinking your recommended daily intake of water can help clear your skin and give you a healthy glow.

Aids digestion and cleansing:  Our digestive system requires a good amount of water in order to digest food properly. The process starts in the mouth and ends with elimination, where toxins and waste products are flushed from the body. Without adequate water stress is placed upon your digestive system and your entire body is affected.

Exercise better:  Being dehydrated can interfere with your exercise and slow you down as you don’t have the energy. Always drink before, during and after exercise and remember the longer and more intensely you exercise, the more important it is keep your fluid intake up.
